Root helps companies secure containerized software without disrupting workflows or requiring extensive retooling. We embed into existing CI/CD pipelines and registries to automatically remediate vulnerabilities—not just detect them. Our core technology powers deep, in-place security for open source and container ecosystems.

At the center of this is Patch Platoon: our agentic system that performs patch research and backport generation for open source libraries. Patch Platoon explores public advisories, source code, and changelogs to autonomously generate and test security patches, providing practical fixes even where upstream patches don’t yet exist.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer with expertise in cybersecurity products (preferably in Application Security) to provide both pre-sales and post-sales technical support. This role bridges product capabilities with customer needs, ensuring smooth onboarding, successful deployments, and long-term adoption of Root’s solutions.

You will work closely with our GTM and Product teams, engage directly with customers, and act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey—from the first demo to ongoing optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Support

  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and design tailored technical solutions.

  • Deliver engaging product demos, proofs-of-concept (POCs), and technical presentations.

  • Advise prospects on integration approaches, security considerations, and best practices.

Post-Sales Support

  • Support onboarding and deployment of Root products, ensuring seamless integration into customer environments.

  • Serve as an escalation point for technical issues, collaborating with engineering and support teams for resolution.

  • Train customer teams on product features, security workflows, and configuration options.

  • Gather customer feedback to influence product roadmap and improvements.

General

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with technical and business stakeholders.

  • Stay current on cybersecurity trends, especially in container security and AppSec.

  • Document and share technical best practices internally and externally.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a Field Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Solutions Engineer role in cybersecurity.

  • Experience with Application Security or related domains.

  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and container ecosystems.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux environments, security scanning tools, and vulnerability remediation workflows.

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and customer-facing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in developer-focused security tools or DevSecOps.

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native application security.

  • Experience with open-source security tooling.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Engineering teams.
