Role Overview:
We are seeking an Account Executive with a strong hunter mentality and proven experience driving growth in early-stage, fast-paced environments. This role is critical to establishing and scaling our go-to-market (GTM) motion as we pioneer the Automated Vulnerability Remediation (AVR) space. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with expertise in application security, software supply chain security, and the broader DevSecOps landscape. You will own the full sales cycle, from pipeline generation to closing, and play a key role in shaping Root.io’s customer acquisition and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive revenue growth: Own and manage the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to deal closure, with a focus on generating net new revenue.
- Pipeline development: Build and maintain a strong pipeline through proactive outbound efforts, partnerships, and industry engagement.
- Execute early-stage GTM: Collaborate with leadership to refine and test sales strategies, positioning Root.io effectively to win in the AVR market.
- Customer-centric selling: Understand customer pain points, align Root.io’s value proposition to their needs, and drive compelling solutions.
- Market representation: Represent Root.io at key industry events, conferences, and client meetings, building brand awareness and credibility.
- Operational rigor: Maintain accurate pipeline forecasts and documentation in CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) to ensure accountability and predictability.
- Collaborate for success: Work closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure customer feedback drives continued product innovation.
Qualifications:
- Hunter mindset: Proven track record of sourcing, developing, and closing new business opportunities.
- Startup experience: 3-5+ years of success in early-stage, high-growth environments with experience driving GTM motions from scratch.
- Industry knowledge: Expertise in cybersecurity sales, particularly in application security (AppSec), software supply chain security, or DevSecOps.
- Self-starter: Highly independent, resourceful, and comfortable operating without established processes.
- Results-driven: Demonstrated ability to exceed quotas, drive net-new revenue, and grow accounts in enterprise or mid-market segments.
- Technical fluency: Familiarity with modern software development practices (containers, CI/CD pipelines, SBOMs, and VEX) and ability to articulate complex value to technical buyers.
- Strong communicator: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first sales approach.
- Passion for innovation: Motivated to work in a mission-driven startup solving critical cybersecurity and software supply chain security challenges.
- Ability to travel (domestically and/or internationally) at short notice.
