Job Title & Summary
We're seeking a **Senior DevOps Engineer** to join our high-growth fintech team and own the infrastructure powering our lending platform that connects borrowers with financial institutions nationwide. You'll architect and maintain mission-critical systems processing thousands of loan applications while ensuring 24/7 uptime in a compliance-sensitive environment. This is a **fully remote position** offering the opportunity to drive technical decisions at a company transforming small business lending.
About the Role
As our Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll be the infrastructure backbone of Lendflow's lending platform, managing complex AWS environments that serve financial advisors, lenders, and borrowers across the United States. Your day-to-day will involve optimizing our containerized applications running on ECS, maintaining our Terraform-managed infrastructure, and ensuring seamless deployments through GitHub Actions pipelines. You'll be hands-on with incident response, database performance tuning, and collaborating with engineering teams to scale our multi-tenant platform. Given the financial nature of our business, you'll also focus heavily on security, compliance, and maintaining detailed audit trails while participating in on-call rotations to ensure business continuity.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
• **Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure** including EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, and other core services across production, staging, and disaster recovery environments
• **Maintain Infrastructure as Code** using Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources, ensuring consistency and reproducibility across environments
• **Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines** using GitHub Actions for automated testing, building, and deployment of containerized applications
• **Monitor system performance and reliability** using New Relic, CloudWatch, and other observability tools, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
• **Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation** for incident response, troubleshooting production issues, and leading post-mortem analysis to prevent future occurrences
• **Optimize database performance** for MySQL/RDS, Redis, and OpenSearch systems, including query tuning, scaling decisions, and backup management
• **Implement security best practices** including IAM policies, SSL certificate management, and integration with Okta for identity management
• **Automate operational workflows** using tools like n8n and Python scripting to reduce manual intervention and improve system reliability
• **Collaborate with engineering teams** to support application deployments, troubleshoot integration issues, and provide infrastructure guidance
• **Manage third-party integrations** and API connectivity with financial services partners, ensuring reliable data flow and communication
• **Document processes and create runbooks** for system operations, incident response procedures, and knowledge transfer
• **Lead infrastructure migration projects** such as the ongoing transition from Bitbucket to GitHub and optimization of container orchestration
Required Skills & Qualifications
**Technical Skills:**
- **5+ years of DevOps/Infrastructure experience** with 3+ years in AWS cloud environments
- **Expert-level Terraform experience** for Infrastructure as Code implementation and management
- **Container orchestration expertise** with ECS, Docker, and containerized application deployment
- **CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance** using GitHub Actions or similar platforms
- **Database administration experience** with MySQL/RDS, Redis, and search technologies like OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
- **Monitoring and observability tools** experience with New Relic, CloudWatch, or similar APM solutions
- **Scripting and automation** proficiency in Python, shell scripting, and workflow automation
- **Security and compliance** knowledge including IAM, SSL/TLS, and access management systems
**Experience & Education:**
- **Bachelor's degree** in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- **Proven experience** managing production systems in regulated industries (fintech, healthcare, or similar)
- **Incident response experience** including on-call responsibilities and post-mortem analysis
- **Track record** of supporting high-availability, high-transaction systems
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
• Experience with **fintech or financial services** infrastructure and compliance requirements
• **Multi-database expertise** including PostgreSQL, data warehousing (Redshift), and query services (Athena)
• **Serverless architecture** experience with AWS Lambda and event-driven systems
• **Advanced networking** knowledge including VPN, DNS management, and CDN optimization (CloudFlare)
• **Additional cloud platforms** experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly Vertex AI
• **Workflow automation platforms** like n8n or similar low-code/no-code solutions
• **PHP/Laravel application** understanding for better collaboration with development teams
• **Advanced security certifications** (AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, etc.)
• **Kubernetes experience** for potential future container orchestration migration
• **Cost optimization expertise** for cloud infrastructure budget management
Base Salary Range: $130,000-170,000
